Working with AI

"How is AI changing the way creative agencies work?"

We think that's a perfectly reasonable question.

The reality is that AI has become part of everyday working life. Most of our clients are already using it to research ideas, write emails, summarise meetings or simply help them work more efficiently. It's only natural in a commercial environment that this leads to another question: where is our agency using it too?

Rather than leaving clients to make assumptions, we'd rather be as open as possible about our approach at Samling Creative.

We believe that clients should invest in commercial impact through creativity, not repetitive tasks. Wherever AI can remove inefficiency without compromising originality, quality or trust, we'll use it.

How a Client–Agency Relationship Looks in the AI Age

Technology has changed dramatically over the past few years, but the foundations of good creative work haven't.

We still believe the best agency relationships are built on openness, trust and a shared understanding of where each side brings value.

Here's what that looks like to us.

What You Can Expect From Us

We'll actively look for efficiencies on your behalf.

We believe it's our responsibility to keep improving the way we work. If AI helps us research faster, communicate ideas more clearly, build better briefs or automate repetitive tasks, we'll use it. Not because it's fashionable, but because those efficiencies allow us to spend more time where our clients receive the greatest value: creative thinking, problem-solving and delivering work that's ready for the real world.

We'll use AI to support the creative process, not replace it.

AI is a brilliant tool for exploring ideas, testing directions and helping clients visualise concepts much earlier in a project. However, those concepts are just the start. The real work still comes from developing original ideas, refining them, understanding production, balancing commercial considerations and creating work that's ready to be built, printed or delivered.

We'll fiercely protect originality, copyright and confidentiality.

The legal position around AI-generated content is still evolving, so we're careful about where and how we use it. AI-generated concepts won't become final client deliverables where copyright or licensing could be uncertain, and we'll continue to use appropriately licensed assets and original creative work throughout our projects. We'll also continue to treat confidential client information with the same care we'd expect of our own.

We'll be transparent.

If AI has helped us work more efficiently on a project, we're happy to say so. We don't think transparency weakens the value of creative work. Quite the opposite.

What We Expect From Our Clients

We welcome questions about AI. In fact, we'd encourage them.

What we ask in return is that creative work isn't judged solely by whether AI was involved, or how quickly a deliverable was reached.

AI can make parts of a project faster. It can improve research, communication and administration, and we'll continue to embrace those efficiencies wherever they genuinely benefit our clients.

What AI doesn't replace is judgement.

It doesn't challenge a brief that's heading in the wrong direction. It doesn't understand production constraints, stakeholder politics or commercial priorities. It doesn't know when to push back on an idea, simplify a solution or recommend a different approach altogether.

That's where experience still matters.

So while we'll always embrace technology that helps us work smarter, we ask our clients to judge our work by the value it creates, not simply by the tools that helped create it.

We don't think that's an old-fashioned way of looking at creativity.

We think it's the only way that still makes sense.

Looking Ahead

We don't think every agency should have the same position on AI.

Different businesses will use it in different ways, and that's healthy.

What we do hope becomes more common is transparency. Clients deserve to understand how their agency works, particularly as AI becomes more capable and more accessible.

This is our approach today.

As the technology, legislation and best practice continue to evolve, we'll continue to review it.

Our position on AI is rooted in the same values that guide every project we deliver.
